Will Green, Trumpet
Wilfred “Will” Green is a native of Opelousas, Louisiana. He graduated from the University of Louisiana in Lafayette, Louisiana with a Bachelor of Music Education degree in 1976 and in 1978 with a Masters in Music Education degree. He has been employed by Lafayette Music Company as manager of the band department for 38 years. Prior to Lafayette Music, he was the band director at Carencro Middle School from 1976 to 1978.
Mr. Green has over 30 years of experience performing for weddings, ensembles and special events. He is principal trumpeter for Chorale Acadienne and many area churches including St. John’s Cathedral and St. Pius X Church in Lafayette, La. and Sacred Heart Church in Broussard, La. For over 20 years, he was lead trumpet with the big band, “The Skyliners” and currently plays with the band “First Class”. Mr. Green has traveled and performed abroad in Shanghai, China. He is an avid adjudicator for band solo and ensemble festivals throughout the area.
Wilfred Green is a member of Phi Mu Alpha professional music fraternity and has also received the Phi Beta Mu Award for Outstanding Contributor in 1999 and 2006. He has also received the Continuous Outstanding Service Award by the Southwest Louisiana Band Directors Association.
